Notes

Born 27 July 1924 in Stuttgart as fourth child of Hulda and Bernhard Bernstein
Due to hostility, surveillance and a denunciation against the Bernstein family, Jeanne and her brother Philipp had to leave home in 1933
Placed in the Israelitische Waisen- und Erziehungsanstalt Wilhelmspflege near Esslingen
Had attended the affiliated Mittelschule since Easter 1931
After the November pogrom (1938), Jeanne stayed with an aunt in Stuttgart
Returned briefly to Wilhelmspflege in February 1939, then went to her mother in Berlin
1939-1940: agricultural training, likely at Hachshara camp Ahrensdorf in Brandenburg — intended to facilitate later emigration to Palestine
Mid-1941: conscripted for forced labor in the armaments industry — Zwangsarbeit at Siemens Schuckert AG
14 November 1941: deported together with her 58-year-old mother Hulda to Minsk
