Born 1898 in Bruchsal to Friedrich (Fritz) and Mathilde (Tilly) Bär. Married his cousin Annie Oppenheimer in 1928 (AR 7044).
Took over the leather import and export firm founded by his grandfather Raphael Bär in 1799, renamed it Anol AG and moved it to Zug, Switzerland, in 1934. Relatives ran branches abroad: Felix Bär in Montreal, Hermann Bär in London. The firm was liquidated by the family in 1954.
LBI's authority record gives his dates as 1898–1976, but the same finding aid's biographical note says he died in 1965; 1976 is his wife Annie's death year. The 1965 date from the prose note is followed here.
