The Oppenheimer woollen cloth factory at Michelfeld, drawn on the engraved family Stammbaum and captioned 'Fabrik Michelfeld.' Works buildings around a tall brick chimney. Founded by Zacharias Oppenheimer — weaving cloth for his father Hayum's business from 1803, trading by 1808 as the Wollentuchfabrique Zacharias Oppenheimer und Herz Michel with 25–30 workers, and grown to 60–70 by the 1810s. It won a silver medal at the 1861 Karlsruhe industrial exhibition and continued as the Gebr. Oppenheimer Wolltuchfabrik. Its uniform cloth supplied the Prussian and Baden military, and it is the business Louis Oppenheimer carried to Bruchsal in 1860.

Son of Sigmund Oppenheimer and Henriette Lewis, and grandson of Zacharias Oppenheimer, founder of the Michelfeld woolens factory — stated in LBI's finding aid for AR 7044.
Came to Bruchsal in 1860 and founded the Firma Oppenheimer with his father's support. The factory specialised in uniform cloth, including for the Prussian and Baden military.
Wrote a history of the family in 1929, held as AR 7044, folder 1/19.
